Laureus Ambassador and Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing skipper Ian Walker is offering a lucky bidder a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire the IWC Schaffhausen watch he has been wearing throughout the Volvo Ocean Race.
Walker has an unassailable lead in the race and the IWC Schaffhausen Portugieser Yacht Club Chronograph ’Ocean Racer’ will be on Walker’s wrist as he crosses the finishing line in Gothenburg shortly.
Funds raised from the auction will go to support the work of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation which has used sport to improve the lives of millions of young people around the world.
The winner will not only receive the watch but will be hosted in Gothenburg for three nights from June 25-28 (excluding flights and transfers).
While in Gothenburg they will participate in a sailing race on board Azzam, the Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing boat, watch the In Port Race, and receive the one-of-a-kind timepiece from Ian Walker.
With its beautifully laid-out silver-plated dial and blued hands and indices, the Portugieser Yacht Club Chronograph ’Ocean Racer’ is the perfect timepiece. The tradition behind the Portugieser watch family goes all the way back to the precision nautical instruments used by seafarers to discover the world.
The auction is conducted by the online fund-raising platform CharityStars until June 23 .
