Snow Sport for Good

In the snowy Austrian mountains, if you want to organise a triathlon then you have to think creatively, and that's exactly what the Laureus team did, creating a unique ‘Ski Triathlon’ event to raise money for Laureus Sport for Good programmes.
Led by three-time Olympic skiing champion and Laureus Academy Member, Maria Höfl-Riesch, the triathlon consisted of Slalom Skiing, table sledding and throwing. Despite the emphasis clearly being on fun, the event raised an incredible €110,000 for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, with Laureus Acacemy Member and German footballing legend, Franz Beckenbauer also making an appearance. The proceeds will go directly to social projects in Austria and Germany for disadvantaged children and young adults.
Höfl-Riesch was happy with her return to (un)competitive action, “It was kind of weird competing again five years after retirement, but it was so much fun. It was great to see all the participants getting into the spirit of Sport for Good in aid of the Laureus Foundation.”
The Laerus Sport for Good Foundation will invest the proceeds of the Ski Triathlon in social sports projects for disadvantaged children and adolescents in Austria and Germany: "Our goal is to multiply the value of every euro donated by the projects with knowledge and the Laureus network actively assist. That way, the projects can develop in the best possible way and help more young people through sport to realize their potential," says Paul Schif, Managing Director of Laureus Sport for Good Foundation Germany, Austria.
