‘The last three or four months for me were great, I’m looking forward to Brazil’ says Laureus Ambass

Laureus Ambassador Juan Mata believes greater playing time following his January move to Manchester United has increased his chances of success at this summer’s Brazil World Cup.
Speaking exclusively to Laureus, Juan said: “The last three or four months for me were great. I played a lot. I scored some goals. So I am looking forward to being there and to try my best for the team.”

This summer’s tournament will be his second World Cup having been a member of the victorious 2010 squad aged just 22.
Looking back to the tournament in South Africa, Juan said: “Winning the World Cup for Spain and being part of the squad was probably my best moment in my career and one of the best moments in my life.”
But having made just a single 20 minute appearance for that team four years ago, he will be hopeful of offering more this year following his influential impact at United.
On his Manchester club, who have appointed a new manager following their uncharacteristic struggle to reach the league-winning heights of 2013, he said: “It's been a difficult year, but I think this [following] season we will improve and we try to win again, because Manchester United is about winning and fighting for titles.
“[Van Gaal] is a very experienced manager. He likes to play in an offensive way, so hopefully he can bring success and trophies to the club and to the players.”
