Carmelita Jeter became the fastest woman in the world when she won the blue riband 100 metres gold medal in the World Championships in Daegu. She also won gold in the 4 x 100 metres relay and silver in the 200 metres. Currently she holds three of the top ten times ever run.
The 10.64 secs she ran in the 2009 World Championships, is the second fastest time ever, just behind the long-standing record of 10.49 secs which Florence Griffith-Joyner set in 1988.
