Fencing icon Max Heinzer becomes a Laureus Ambassador
Fencer Max Heinzer is a multiple European Team Champion, European Championship medallist and three-time World Cup medallist. And now he can add Laureus Ambassador to his impressive resume
Earlier this week, 80 children from three schools took part in the Bernese inclusive sports day "Laureus Metro Sports by Blind Spot" organised by Laureus Sport for Good Foundation . The integrative project encouraged children with and without disabilities to work together through sport to combat prejudice and promote friendships.
Along newly–named Ambassador Max Heinzer, was also Laureus Ambassador and successful ex-mountain biker Christoph Sauser. Both athletes were particularly pleased about how happy the children were while being involved in sport.
"For me, it was a unique and wonderful experience to bring fencing along and teach it to the kids and to be able to share my love for the sport with them" said Max Heinzer.
As an active athlete with a promising future, especially ahead of the Olympics in 2016, it is important for Heinzer to show the children how much joy and motivation fencing, and sport in general, can bring you.
Both Heinzer and Sauser have achieved impressive goals in their successful careers but sharing their love of sport with young people might be their most enriching of them all.
