Fundación Real Madrid and Laureus Sport for Good have formalised a collaboration agreement aimed at strengthening the project of adapted and inclusive football schools for people with disabilities.
This initiative seeks to guarantee access to sport for individuals who still face physical, social, and cultural barriers that prevent them from participating on equal terms.
The agreement was signed during an institutional event held in the Boardroom at Real Madrid City, where the Laureus delegation was welcomed by Emilio Butragueño, Director of Institutional Relations of Real Madrid; Julio González Ronco, Managing Director of Fundación Real Madrid; and Silvia Montes Jovellar, Project Director. At the presidential table, Emilio Butragueño and Marcel Desailly, member of the Laureus World Sports Academy, took part in the signing of the ratification protocol.

In Spain, many people with disabilities continue to face significant obstacles in accessing sports, including a lack of adapted facilities, limited inclusive programs, and a shortage of specialized professionals. Fundación Real Madrid’s schools promote social sports activities that support health, social interaction, and the development of social, emotional, and motor skills. They apply the “For a REAL Education: Values and Sport” methodology, which combines sports practice with values such as respect, equality, and teamwork, delivered by staff specifically trained for this purpose.
During the last season, nearly one hundred participants benefited from the schools funded by the Laureus Sport for Good, including the Inclusive Orcasur school, Adapted Adults Orcasur, ASD Móstoles, ASD Plata y Castañar, Adapted Adults Alcobendas, and Adapted Valdebernardo. Behind each group and each session are improvements in health and self‑esteem, as well as families who find a safe, adapted, and respectful environment for their children.
Laureus Academy Member Marcel Desailly said: “Our relationship with Real Madrid and Fundación Real Madrid is long standing and built on shared values - excellence, respect, ambition, and above all, inclusion. Over many years, we have seen how our collaboration can create real, lasting impact. Today marks an important step forward and shows once again how sport - in particular football – can inspire and use its incredible power and reach, for good.”
“By formalising this agreement, we strengthen our joint work to expand adapted and inclusive football schools for people with disabilities. This is more than a programme; it is a statement of belief. A belief that every person - regardless of physical, social, or cultural barriers - deserves the chance to play, to belong, to grow, and to experience the joy that sport brings.”
Emilio Butragueño, Director of Institutional Relations of Real Madrid, highlighted the importance of the agreement: “This collaboration has great social and educational significance for Fundación Real Madrid. Despite growing visibility, many people with disabilities in Spain still face barriers that limit their access to sport. Our adapted and inclusive schools were created to respond to this reality, using sport and teamwork to improve well-being, strengthen essential skills, and foster a true sense of belonging. Together with Laureus, we reaffirm our shared commitment to ensuring that sport is a real and transformative right for everyone.”
