Jude Bellingham announced as Laureus Ambassador

Jude Bellingham - Laureus Ambassador
In the week Jude Bellingham returned to action following shoulder surgery that delayed his season, one of the brightest stars in world football began another new chapter in his story – by joining the Laureus movement as an Ambassador.
After undergoing shoulder surgery in the summer, Bellingham made his first appearance of the season for Real Madrid on Saturday, coming off the bench at the Santiago Bernabeu in the 2-0 defeat of Espanyol. And a few days later, he joined a new team as the latest sporting legend to line up with Laureus in their mission to use sport to help young people overcome violence, discrimination and inequality.

The announcement was made during Bellingham’s visit to Fútbol Más, a Laureus-supported programme in Madrid, which uses football to promote mental wellbeing, inclusion and leadership among young people. The Champions League winner took part in a session with a group of 20 children, engaging in activities designed to build confidence and teamwork. As Bellingham got his first experience of life as a Laureus Ambassador, those young people got a memory that will last forever, including a chance to join Bellingham in his trademark goal celebration.
Fútbol Más operates in several countries globally and is one of more than 300 sports-based programmes in more than 40 countries which are supported by Laureus Sport for Good, a global authority in the sport for development sector. The programmes it supports empower change-makers within communities around the world with expertise and best practice. Established more than 25 years ago, Sport for Good uses the unique power of sport to bring hope, resilience and systematic change.

Bellingham’s connection with Laureus began in 2024, when he won the Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year Award following a standout debut season with Real Madrid. On stage in his new hometown, he was presented with his Laureus by Carlos Alcaraz, tennis’s world No.1 and a die-hard Madridista.

The 22-year-old joins a host of world-class football talent who are already part of the Laureus family, including Luís Figo, Ruud Gullit, Alessandro Del Piero, Paulo Dybala, Juan Mata, Georgia Stanway and Real Madrid legend Raúl.
New Laureus Ambassador Jude Bellingham: “I’m proud to become a Laureus Ambassador today and join a global movement of athletes who want to make a difference; to use their position to help inspire and support young people all over the world. We all believe in the mission Nelson Mandela gave athletes, that ‘sport has the power to change the world’. Sport has changed my life, and this is the perfect time for me to join the Laureus team. Laureus Sport for Good proves that beyond the playing field, sport is a tool to build confidence, resilience and change the lives of young people around the world.

“Today’s session with the kids at Fútbol Más was a great example of the power of sport in action. The kids are learning life skills through football – confidence, respect, teamwork – and that’s something I want to help promote with Laureus. I hope this is just the beginning of a long journey together.”

Laureus Academy Member Raúl: “Jude is not just a great footballer – he’s a role model. The No.5 ‘Bellingham’ Madrid shirt is worn by kids not just all over this city, but all over the world and his decision to choose Laureus shows that he takes that responsibility seriously. His maturity, his values, and his desire to give back make him a perfect fit for Laureus. We’re proud to welcome him to the Laureus family and I am excited to see the impact he’ll have. Jude is a global superstar and with Laureus he will change the lives of young people all over the world.”
