Sport for Good City Paris ushers in eight new funded projects

Laureus Sport for Good City Paris has welcomed eight new grantees to kick start the next chapter of the programme that has been harnessing the power of collaboration and community to drive positive change through sport in the city.
To mark this new grant cycle, a celebratory event took place on October 1st at the Wilma Rudolph Gymnasium, where the majority of activities of Paris Basket 18, the iconic women's basketball club in northern Paris currently supported by Sport for Good City Paris, are held. Bringing together the coalition of local associations, programme participants, key funding partners, and Mansour Bahrami, former tennis player and Laureus Ambassador, the day's activities provided an opportunity to discover how sport can unite communities and foster collaboration for a positive impact on the lives of young people.

These are in addition to the two programmes already supported since summer 2024 The Laureus Sport for Good Cities initiative, launched in 2014 in New Orleans, is a place-based, bottom-up approach that uses sport to address issues facing youth in specific urban areas. It brings together local stakeholders to tackle these challenges. The initiative has expanded from its initial location to include cities like New York, Chicago, Atlanta, London, Delhi and Hong Kong.
