The 27-year-old Australian won his first Major Championship at the USPGA at Whistling Straits, in August, with a record score of 20 under par. His victory came during a hot streak on the PGA Tour. After finishing tied fourth in the Open Championship at St Andrews in July, he won the Canadian Open the following week, the USPGA three weeks later, The Barclays another two weeks on and the BMW Championship in September. This propelled him to the world No.1 ranking for the first time, eventually finishing the year ranked No.2, behind Jordan Spieth, with US$9.4 million in PGA Tour prize money.
