Ruth Beitia came back from retirement to win a gold medal at the age of 37 in the high jump at the Rio Olympic Games. She was so upset with just a fourth place in the 2012 London Olympics that she retired. However, she was so disappointed with her failure to win an Olympic medal that she soon returned to competition and won gold medals in the European Championships in 2014 and 2016, before her success in Rio.
