By winning the 50 metres backstroke S2 bronze in Paris, Perales secured an incredible 28th Paralympic medal to equal the achievement of swimming icon Michael Phelps, who won 28 Olympic medals over his incredible career. She also came away with two world records: the 150m medley SM2 and the 100m freestyle S2, which she broke twice during the competition.

The Spaniard's Paralympic career began when she was 19, having lost the use of her legs after being diagnosed with an extremely rare condition, but at the age of 48, she made her seventh Paralympic Games in Paris last summer. The former world and European champion has won more medals than any other Spanish athlete
