‘Sport has the power to change the world’ – Nelson Mandela, 2000 Laureus World Sports Awards

Named Team of the Year at the Ballon d’Or awards after beating Borussia Dortmund 2–0 in the final to win a record-extending 15th UEFA Champions League / European Cup title, with players Dani Carvajal, Toni Kroos, Luka Modrić and Nacho equalling Paco Gento’s record of six European Cup titles.

With star player Vinicius Jr scoring 15 goals, Madrid also won Spain’s La Liga for a record 36th time and defeated rivals Barcelona 4-1 in the Supercopa de España. The club began the 2024-25 season with a win over Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup final, before defeating Mexican side Pachuca to win the Intercontinental Cup, establishing Carlo Ancelotti as Madrid’s most decorated manager with 15 trophy wins.
