Picklum was crowned World Surf League champion for the very first time, as the 22-year-old defeated 2023 world champion Caroline Marks in a best-of-three match. Despite losing the first heat, strong scores of 15.83 and 16.93, along with two highest-scoring 8.83 rides, cemented her first title. Picklum was the dominant WSL force throughout the year, holding the yellow jersey for top WSL scorer through wins at the Lexus Tahiti Pro and Rio Pro events and a runner-up place at the Corona Open J-Bay in South Africa.
