A first ATP Tour title arrived in February, with a 6-4,7-6 (7-1) win in the Argentina Open final, followed by a Challenger win in Phoenix just a month later. He made his debut at all four Grand Slam tournaments, reaching the third round of Wimbledon and the French Open and the second round of the US and Australian Opens. In Australia, Fonseca defeated Andrey Rublev – then World No.5 – 7-6 (7-1), 6-3. 7-6 (7-5), before losing out to Lorenzo Sonego in five sets.
