Arguably the most dominant athlete in any discipline, Yelena Isinbayeva, at the age of just 24, is easily the best female pole vaulter in history.  
In 2006, she won the gold medal at the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg to give herself a remarkable collection of five major championship victories – Olympic, World, European, World Indoor and European Indoor. She also set a new indoor world record of 4.91 metres in Donetsk, Ukraine in February. To date she has created 18 world records.
