In the 2007 Tour de France, Alberto Contador won the 14th stage at the mountain top finish of Plateau-de-Beille to establish himself in second position when leader Michael Rasmussen was pulled out of the race by his team.  Contador took over and held the lead to win his first Tour de France, the first win for the Discovery Channel team since Lance Armstrong’s victory in 2005.
