Just 19, she beat Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin in straight sets in Roland Garros, or Poland Garros as the Polish media dubbed it. She became the first player ranked outside the top 50 to win the French Open, and the first Pole. She was also the youngest women’s singles champion since Laureus Academy Member Monica Seles in 1990.

I am grateful for the Laureus Award nomination and I would like to thank everyone who voted for me. The motto of Laureus Award is about having the power to change the world by sport. I truly believe it is possible and because of that I'm even more happy that my work as a tennis player is appreciated.
