In 2020 won both the road race and time trial at the UCI World Championships in Imola, the first rider to do the double since 1995. It was the climax of an amazing year for the current Olympic road race champion. She also won the gold medal in the time trial at the European Championships and won her third Giro Rosa and sixth Flèche Wallonne.

It was such a joy to be able to be cycling after such an awful year for so many people. Winning two gold medals was brilliant for me, but you couldn’t help sometimes looking at what was going on around you - and still is. It’s a great honour and thank you to everyone who voted for me.
