Powered by a masterclass from Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks ended their 50-year wait for a second NBA championship with a 105-98 win over Phoenix Suns to clinch the NBA Finals 4-2, becoming only the fifth team to win the best-of-seven series after losing the first two games. Antetokounmpo was named MVP of the series after a playoff career-high 50 points in the final game. He now matches the feat of Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon by collecting a regular season MVP, NBA Finals MVP and NBA defensive player of the year awards. Antetokounmpo averaged 35.2 points, 13.2 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.8 blocks in the series. Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer described the Greek forward as ‘a special leader.’
