Kick4Life uses football to reach at-risk children and young people in Lesotho, promoting health, education, life-skills development, gender rights and employability. Lesotho has one of the highest rates of HIV infection in the world and many of the issues this programme seeks to address are linked to the impact of that virus on communities.
The Girls United initiative also addresses gender equity issues including gender-based violence, while the Climate Enterprise Initiative supports young climate entrepreneurs towards achieving sustainable livelihoods with incubator support and employment opportunities.
Kick4Life has reached more than 250,000 children and young people since it was founded and it is one of over 300 Laureus Sport for Good projects all over the world.
Accepting the Award from Laureus Chairman Sean Fitzpatrick and Laureus Ambassador Eileen Gu, Kick4Life’s Motlatsi Nkhahle said: “Congrats to the other five incredible organisations who were nominated and the hundreds of organisations all over the world supported by Laureus. The Laureus family connects us to this wider global community of sport to which all of us here belong.”
