At the 2025 World Aquatics Championship in Singapore, Ledecky’s record-breaking performances saw her reach a career total of 30 world championship medals; a feat bettered only by Michael Phelps. A championship record time of 8:05.62 in the 800m freestyle saw Ledecky become the first swimmer – male or female – to win seven consecutive golds in one event. Ledecky’s 15:26.44 time in the 1,500m freestyle won her another gold medal and was the fifth-fastest time in history. She now holds all five of the fastest times recorded.
