One of the outstanding athletes of the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, he revived memories of Usain Bolt’s dominance with a sweep of all three sprint gold medals: the 100 and 200 metres and the 4 x 100 metres relay. No sprinter had done the 100/200 double at the World Championships since Bolt in 2015. It was his third straight 200 metres world title and will make him a favourite at the Paris Olympics. With his three 200m World Championship golds, he passes Michael Johnson and Calvin Smith, who both won two, and places him second only to Bolt who won four.
