‘Sport has the power to change the world’ – Nelson Mandela, 2000 Laureus World Sports Awards

Her gold medal run in the 400 metre hurdles was one of the highlights of the Paris Olympic Games. The American’s time of cwas her sixth world record in the event and the World Athletics rankings system nominated the run as the greatest ever by a woman.

In addition to her individual success, she was part of the team which delivered gold in the 4 x 400m relay. The first track athlete to break four world records in the same event, the three-time World Champion was also the first woman to break 52 seconds (June 2021) and 51 seconds (July 2022) in the 400m hurdles. World Athletics named the 25-year-old the 2024 female Track Athlete of the Year
