In Tokyo she was expected to add to those gold medals, but she withdrew from the individual all-around and three individual apparatus finals in Tokyo, saying she was not confident she could perform. However, she showed her courage and determination to come back to compete in the last apparatus final and won a bronze medal in the beam. After she had pulled out of the women’s team, Biles had said: “I have to focus on my mental health. We have to protect our minds and our bodies and not just go out and do what the world wants us to do.”
