The Laureus World Sports Awards Ceremony travelled to South East Asia for the first time, taking place in Kuala Lumpur, with actor Benedict Cumberbatch taking over the hosting duties. 

Missy Franklin - who five years later would become a Laureus Academy Member - was named as Sportswoman of the Year at the 2014 ceremony.
